THE INSIDER

Re-creating Defenders to last a lifetime… • Earlier this year, LR Motors was acquired by Ross Munro, who has been running operations for the company since 2015. The business remains based in Thirsk, with a showroom and workshop facility at Severfield Close. Ross has already set out plans to make the firm more sustainable, taking Defender and early 90 and 110 models that are 20, even 40 years old and recreating them as “LR Classics” so that they last for another 20 or 40 years

THE LATEST LR CUSTOM RANGE OF DEFENDER PRODUCTS

FAST TRACKING • So, the new Defender can’t be modified, huh…? Neil Watterson gets under the skin and behind the wheel of Bowler Motorsport’s latest Defender Challenge vehicle

No matter where you live in the UK, you’ll never be far from the LRO Adventure Trail.

WHILE YOU’RE THERE • Places to stop along the route – the LRO Adventure Trail is about more than just the greenlanes.

MARCHING ON • The Ineos Grenadier is well into its testing programme ready for launch next July. John Pearson hitches a ride in one of the prototypes

BOTSWANA LAND ROVER HEAVEN • Julie Osborne-Tame has a long list of favourite destinations in Africa – but one stands head and shoulders above all others

It’s show and tell time!

Time Traveller • Jake Payne’s restored 80-inch looks like it’s just driven straight from a 1950s Australian sheep station and into 21st century rural England – ‘shear’ bliss for our Mark Saville

The gentle touch • This wonderful, rare, Jennings-bodied camper has been refurbished and gently modernised with genuine sympathy for what it is

The 109 that was a fire tender – twice! • This Land Rover had a history of service even before Carmichael carried out its rare FT/6 conversion

BLIND FAITH PAYS OFF… • …eventually! Jamie survives a transaction with a latter-day Arthur Daley to end up with the Land Rover he had coveted for many years

KEEP ON MOVIN’! • James hasn’t stood still in his quest to bring to life the...
